Enshrouded Update 8 "Forging the Path" — The Skill Reset, Adventure Sharing, and the Road to 1.0
Last verified: June 12, 2026. Update 8 released April 21, 2026 — the final update before the planned autumn 2026 full release.
Update 8 is Enshrouded's table-setter: the last content update Keen Games ships before the planned autumn 2026 full release, and it spends that slot on two structural changes — a skill tree redesign that reset every character (points refunded), and Adventure Sharing, which turns player worlds into browsable, visitable community content. If you logged in to find your skills gone or you are wondering what the upload-your-world buttons do, this is the reference.
The skill tree rework (and the reset)
- Every character was reset once. On first load into a world after Update 8, skills clear and all points are refunded. Re-spec into the new tree; nothing is lost except your old layout.
- Skills are now upgradeable. Many skills accept further points after unlocking, raising their level — the new optimization axis. Base unlocks also cost fewer points than before, so reaching the outer branches is faster.
- New nodes that matter: weapon and tool specialization skills (the build-defining additions), max-health boost options, and a skill that lets you choose your dodge mode.
- Double Jump moved to the center tree, reachable by any build — an admission of what every player already did.
- Usability: the tree gained zoom-out for overview and clearer pathing.
Adventure Sharing: worlds as content
The other half of Update 8 turns Embervale saves into shareable adventures:
- Upload your world with a name, tags, description, and preview screenshots — Update 8 added a craftable camera specifically for taking those previews.
- Browse the community's worlds: search by name, filter by tags, upvote, subscribe, and visit — solo or as a party in a peer-to-peer session.
- Hosts control arrival: a Flame Altar toggle sets the spawn point visitors arrive at — build an entrance, not a confused scatter.
For build-focused communities this is the feature: showcase bases stop being screenshot posts and become destinations. Note the plumbing — Adventure Sharing visits are peer-to-peer, separate from dedicated-server hosting; your persistent co-op world and your uploaded showcase are different copies.
Server notes
- The reset is per-character, on first login. Expect every player to spend their first five minutes post-update at the skill screen; a pinned "new tree tips" message saves your chat the same five questions.
- Metas moved. Specialization skills and upgradeable nodes shift optimal builds — progression servers that balance encounters around player power should expect a stronger mid-game.
- The stable plateau. With Update 8 declared the last before 1.0, the current build is the long-run state: the right window for long-form community worlds without mid-season patch disruption. The autumn full release will be the next big decision point (and population wave) — same playbook as every 1.0: backups, a wipe-or-keep conversation, and capacity for launch week. Crossplay status and setup: the Enshrouded crossplay guide; sizing: server requirements.
