2026 update callout: stable 2.0.77, 2.1 still experimental
The current stable headless release is 2.0.77. Factorio 2.1 is opt-in experimental, so a production server should stay on 2.0 unless the group has a tested reason to move. Wube's experimental notes and the official download page are the source of truth for the current build.
For every update, pin the server and clients to the same version, check the mod portal for matching releases, and keep a restorable save backup. Performance results from an experimental build should not be presented as stable-server guarantees.
