Ancient Technology
Ancient Technology unlocks are rare enough that early choices matter. If you spend points on novelty before utility, progression slows. If you spend them only on raw combat, your base and exploration tools lag behind.
What Ancient Technology Is Best For
| Mobility | Movement tools often change how quickly you can explore, farm bosses, and rescue failed runs. |
|---|---|
| Capture and combat support | A few unlocks make difficult hunts safer or more efficient without demanding a full rebuild. |
| Base power spikes | Some unlocks improve how much work your base can handle with the same labor pool. |
Good Spending Priorities
- Buy the unlock that solves your current bottleneck, not the one that looks most dramatic.
- If your server explores a lot, favor movement and survivability first.
- If your group is farming bosses or rare Pals, shift toward capture and combat support.
- Do not scatter points across unrelated experiments unless you already have a stable base economy.
When A Choice Was Probably Wrong
- You spent rare points and still cannot travel or gather noticeably faster.
- Your next boss target did not become easier in any practical way.
- The unlock is impressive on paper but almost never used in your group's normal routine.
Verified 2026 Detail
Official server settings include tunable values for EXP, hatch timing, item drops, and work speed. In practical terms, that means Ancient Technology priorities should be evaluated inside your server economy: a convenience unlock on a slow server can feel transformational, while the same unlock on a high-rate world can feel redundant.
Current Official Note
Palworld's official server settings reference shows how many progression-related values can be tuned server-side, from experience to hatch timing and work speed. Because of that, the "best" Ancient Technology unlock is partly a server-context question, not just a universal single-player ranking.
Budget Ancient Civilization Cores Alongside Your Points
In Palworld 1.0 the player level cap went from 65 to 80, and Pocketpair added many new technologies tied to the ancient civilization. Unlocking one of those is only half the cost: building it usually takes Ancient Civilization Cores, which cannot be crafted or bought. The Ancient Material Synthesizer (level 78) needs 10 cores and the Ancient Relic Recycler (level 74) needs 20, and the nine Ancient base structures together cost 105. Before spending a rare point on an ancient unlock, check that you can also afford the cores to build it. Our Ancient Civilization Core farming guide lists every source and the cores each raid boss drops.
