Palworld Ancient Civilization Core: How to Farm It in 1.0

Palworld Ancient Civilization Core: How to Farm It in 1.0

Last updated: October 11, 2026. Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (dedicated server build 25247047).

Ancient Civilization Cores cannot be crafted or bought from any merchant. In Palworld 1.0 they come from four places: raid bosses summoned at a Summoning Altar (1 to 3 cores per kill), the higher tier Pal Expeditions, two World Tree Pals (Dandilord and Silvance drop one core each), and the Ancient Relic Recycler, which turns World Tree relics into materials that include cores. Before the World Tree, run expeditions from every base and repeat the raid boss you can beat. After it, breed Dandilord or Silvance into a Pal Disassembly Conveyor and keep a Recycler running.

TL;DR

  • Not craftable, not sold. Every core comes from a boss, an expedition, a Pal drop or the Recycler.
  • Raid bosses: Bellanoir drops 1 core, Blazamut Ryu 2, Xenolord and Hartalis 3. Bellanoir Libero, Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord and Hartalis also drop the slab for their Ultra version.
  • Expeditions: the later destinations list cores in their rewards, and sending more firepower than recommended raises the payout.
  • World Tree: Dandilord and Silvance drop 1 core each, and the Pal Disassembly Conveyor gives the same drops as a kill, so bred offspring become a core farm.
  • Budget: the nine Ancient base structures alone cost 105 cores. Plan the order before you spend.

Why cores are the 1.0 bottleneck

Pocketpair's 1.0 release changelog (July 10, 2026) raised the player level cap from 65 to 80 and says that many new technologies related to the ancient civilization were added with it. Many of those late unlocks ask for Ancient Civilization Cores, often 10 or 20 at a time, while the item itself has no recipe. That is why "how do I farm cores faster?" keeps coming back on r/Palworld.

Do not confuse the core with Ancient Civilization Parts. Parts are a separate, common material that most Alpha and Lucky Pals drop when defeated. Cores are the rare, Legendary rarity item described in game as "nearly impossible to find on the Palpagos Islands".

Raid bosses: cores on demand

Raid bosses are the most direct source because you choose when to fight. Build a Summoning Altar (100 Stone and 20 Paldium Fragment) inside a base, combine slab fragments into a slab at a Handiwork crafting station, and offer the slab at the altar. Since v0.7.0 the altar lets you fight either at your base or in a separate Raid Area, which Pocketpair added so the fight cannot damage your base. Pick the Raid Area. You have ten minutes to win; if the timer runs out the boss despawns and the raid fails.

Core counts are the drop tables published by the community Palworld Wiki on wiki.gg (Raid Bosses page, revised October 5, 2026). Pocketpair's v1.0.3 notes (August 12, 2026) say the reward settings for the normal Moon Lord battle and the Ultra raid boss battles were corrected, so treat those rows as the ones most likely to move in a future patch.

The useful pattern in this table: Bellanoir Libero, Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord and Hartalis each drop the slab for their own Ultra version, and Moon Lord drops the sigil for its Master fight, so one fragment hunt buys two fights. Xenolord and Hartalis give 3 cores per kill at both tiers, which makes them the best cores per slab once your team can win them reliably.

Playing in a guild? Since 1.0 only one raid boss battle can run at a time within a guild. A group that shares a guild on a server takes turns at the altar, so line the slabs up and run them back to back rather than all at once.

Expeditions: cores while you do something else

A Pal Expedition Station (10 Wooden Board, 100 Stone, 20 Paldium Fragment, 20 Cement) sends up to 100 Pals off the map for a fixed time. New destinations unlock as you defeat faction leaders. Each destination has a recommended firepower: falling short reduces the rewards, and going over it increases them. Condensing Pals raises their firepower far more than levelling alone, which is why the players with the biggest core income send condensed Pals rather than many weak ones. Research at the Pal Labor Research Laboratory can also shorten expedition time.

Sunreach Isle1 hour589,00020 Dragon PalsAuri and Shaolong
World Tree Subterranean City Ruins1 hour851,000NoneZenara and Astralym

The community wiki lists Ancient Civilization Cores in the rewards of the first three destinations above; Sunreach Isle and the World Tree ruins were added as expedition destinations in 1.0. Pocketpair also changed the destinations unlocked by the Hard mode tower bosses to the "Highest" danger level in 1.0 and rebalanced their rewards. The earlier expeditions are still worth running for a different reason: they return Bellanoir and Bellanoir Libero slab fragments, which feed the raid boss route above.

The station can go anywhere inside a base's Palbox area, and its position does not change the result. Players who report the biggest core income on r/Palworld run a station in every base so several expeditions come back at once.

The World Tree route: a renewable core farm

Once you reach the World Tree, two of its Pals change the maths. Dandilord and Silvance each drop 1 Ancient Civilization Core and 1 Giant Pal Soul as a normal drop, and both attack on sight. Catch a pair, breed them, and feed the offspring to a Pal Disassembly Conveyor (100 Pal Metal Ingot, 15 Computer, 30 Nail, 30 Plasteel). The conveyor permanently removes the Pal and gives the same item drops you would get by defeating it in the wild, so every egg you hatch is one more core. Capturing and then disassembling gives you the capture reward and the drop from the same Pal.

The second World Tree source is the Ancient Relic Recycler, a level 74 technology. Pocketpair's 1.0 notes describe Ancient Civilization Relics as a new item, obtainable only in the World Tree, that a special device converts into items for crafting and enhancement. The Recycler is that device: it runs on electricity with a Handiwork Pal assigned, and its outputs include Ancient Civilization Cores alongside Paloxite, Mythical Wood, Radiant Gems, Life Fruit, Starfruit and Disposable Implants. Putting World Tree Holy Water in its extra slots speeds recycling up by 1.5 times, using one water every five minutes.

The Recycler itself costs 50 Paloxite Ingot, 50 Mythical Wood, 30 Ancient Civilization Parts and 20 Ancient Civilization Cores. Build it once the other sources are flowing, not as your first core spend.

How many cores you actually need

The quickest way to stop feeling short of cores is to know the bill. These are the Ancient base structures and their core cost, from the item's recipe list:

StructureCoresOther key materials
Ancient Monitoring Stand5100 Soralite Ingot
Ancient Material Synthesizer1050 Paloxite Ingot
Ancient Furnace1030 Computer, 100 Coralum Ingot, 20 Thermal Core
Ancient Kitchen1050 Cryogenic Coolant, 80 Soralite Ingot, 30 Thermal Core
Ancient Power Generator10200 Electric Organ, 100 Paloxite Ingot
Ancient Farm10100 Mythical Wood, 50 Paloxite Ingot, 50 World Tree Holy Water
Ancient Clinic1015 Computer, 50 Soralite Ingot, 45 World Tree Holy Water
Ancient Hatchery2050 AI Core, 30 Ancient Civilization Parts, 100 Paloxite Ingot
Ancient Relic Recycler2050 Paloxite Ingot, 50 Mythical Wood, 30 Ancient Civilization Parts
Total105

Gear and incubators add more on top: the Advanced Shield and Ultra Shield take 30 cores each, the Beam Launcher, Homing Module and Wing Pack 10 each, the Plasma Rifle 7, the Large-Scale Electric Egg Incubator 20, the Large Incubator 4 and the Electric Egg Incubator 2.

Worked example: 105 cores for the Ancient base set

RouteCores each timeRepeats for 105 cores
Bellanoir raid1105 kills
Blazamut Ryu raid253 kills
Xenolord or Hartalis raid (normal or Ultra)335 kills
Xenolord, then its Ultra from the dropped slab6 per fragment-built slab18 slabs
Bred Dandilord or Silvance through the conveyor1105 Pals

Two practical conclusions. First, spend the earliest cores on whatever removes a bottleneck you hit every session, not on the structure with the best name. Second, the raid route scales with how many slabs you hold, and the expedition route scales with how many bases you run, so the two together beat either one alone.

Running it on your own server

On a dedicated server the same sources apply, but a few world settings decide how far each one goes. These are the shipped defaults in DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini from the current Steam dedicated server build (25247047), with Pocketpair's own descriptions:

BaseCampMaxNumInGuild=4
BaseCampWorkerMaxNum=15
EnemyDropItemRate=1.000000
ExpRate=1.000000
  • BaseCampMaxNumInGuild is the maximum number of bases per guild: default 4, maximum 10, and Pocketpair notes that raising it adds processing load. More bases means more Pal Expedition Stations and more room for Recyclers.
  • BaseCampWorkerMaxNum is the maximum number of Pals per base, up to 50, again with a load warning.
  • EnemyDropItemRate is the dropped item quantity multiplier.
  • ExpRate is the experience multiplier. Many groups lower it for a longer campaign, which also means reaching the core heavy technologies later.

Pocketpair also says that in 1.0 the default world settings for dedicated servers were adjusted to closely match single player Normal difficulty, so an untouched server plays close to a solo Normal world. The full list of settings is in Pocketpair's official server configuration reference. Our Palworld server settings guide covers how to change them safely.

Core farming checklist

  • Build a Pal Expedition Station in every base and keep it busy.
  • Condense the Pals you send so each run clears its recommended firepower with room to spare.
  • Bank every slab fragment, and fight the normal version of a boss first so its Ultra slab comes free.
  • Fight in the Raid Area, not in your base.
  • On reaching the World Tree, catch Dandilord or Silvance and start breeding before you spend cores on anything else.
  • Build the Ancient Relic Recycler once the other sources are flowing, and feed it World Tree Holy Water.
  • Keep a running total against the 105 core bill above so you know which structure comes next.

Frequently asked questions

Can you craft Ancient Civilization Cores in Palworld?

No. Ancient Civilization Cores have no recipe and no merchant sells them. They come from raid bosses, higher tier Pal Expeditions, the World Tree Pals Dandilord and Silvance, and the Ancient Relic Recycler.

Which raid boss drops the most Ancient Civilization Cores?

Xenolord and Hartalis drop 3 cores per kill at both normal and Ultra difficulty, and the normal kill also drops the slab for the Ultra fight. Bellanoir drops 1 and Blazamut Ryu drops 2.

Do expeditions give Ancient Civilization Cores?

Yes, the later expedition destinations include cores in their rewards, and sending more firepower than the recommended value increases what comes back. Running a station in every base multiplies the income.

What is the difference between Ancient Civilization Parts and Cores?

Parts are a common material dropped by most Alpha and Lucky Pals. Cores are a rare Legendary material that only comes from raid bosses, expeditions, a few World Tree Pals and the Ancient Relic Recycler.

How many Ancient Civilization Cores do I need?

The nine Ancient base structures cost 105 cores in total, from 5 for the Ancient Monitoring Stand to 20 each for the Ancient Hatchery and the Ancient Relic Recycler. Shields and late weapons cost more on top.
