Palworld Coralum Ore: Where to Get It and How to Farm It
Coralum Ore does not come from rock nodes. In Palworld 1.0 it comes from two places: Pal drops (Whalaska and Whalaska Ignis drop 2 to 3, their Alpha versions 5 to 10, and Neptilius 10) and Salvage Spots at sea, where the advanced spots around Feybreak return 6 to 11 Coralum Ore every time you salvage one with a Powerful Fishing Magnet. The fastest early route is salvaging from a water mount with Jellroy in your party; the steady late route is breeding Whalaska and running the offspring through a Pal Disassembly Conveyor. Two ore and five Coal smelt into one Coralum Ingot at the Gigantic Furnace.
TL;DR
- No merchant sells it and no recipe makes it. Drops and salvage only.
- Best manual source: advanced Salvage Spots, 6 to 11 ore each, one Powerful Fishing Magnet per success. A single craft makes 10 magnets.
- Best passive source: bred Whalaska through the Pal Disassembly Conveyor, 2 to 3 ore each.
- Jellroy in your party adds 55% to salvage yields, up to 95% fully condensed.
- Ingots: 2 Coralum Ore plus 5 Coal per Coralum Ingot, Gigantic Furnace, technology level 62.
What Coralum Ore is for
Coralum Ore is a material introduced in Palworld 1.0. A few early items use the ore directly, such as the Beginner Fishing Rod (Gumoss), which needs 3, and the Intermediate Fishing Rod (Croajiro), which needs 10. Almost everything else wants it smelted first: the Coralum Ingot, described in game as highly resistant to energy and ideal for weapons, goes into the energy weapons, late saddles, movement gear and several key production buildings. The amounts are large, which is why the ore runs out faster than players expect.
Every Coralum Ore source
| Source | Coralum Ore | Where or how | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whalaska | 2 to 3 | Regular encounter on the Isle of the Glacial Core; fished up along the coast of Frozen Coral Hill on Feybreak in daytime | None, it only fights back when attacked |
| Alpha Whalaska | 5 to 10 | Alpha spawns, and Alphas caught from fishing | A team that can take an Alpha |
| Whalaska Ignis (and its Alpha) | 2 to 3 (5 to 10 as Alpha) | The Ice and Fire subspecies of Whalaska | Same as Whalaska |
| Neptilius | 10, plus 10 Hexolite | Found wild only as an Alpha, in the Isle of the Glacial Core area | A late game team, or breeding |
| Basic Salvage Spots | 1 to 2, about 30% of the time | Floating flotsam around the Windswept Island, the Sea Breeze Archipelago and the Isle of Silence | A Water element mount and a Fishing Rod |
| Advanced Salvage Spots | 6 to 11, every time | Waters around the Astral Mountains, Sakurajima and Feybreak | As above, plus one Powerful Fishing Magnet per success |
| Merchants and crafting | None | Not possible |
Drop quantities come from the community Palworld Wiki's drop tables on wiki.gg; the salvage chances are that wiki's measured estimates (Fishing page, revised September 8, 2026).
Salvaging: the fastest manual route
Salvage Spots are the piles of flotsam floating in open water. Pocketpair's 1.0 changelog says junk and salvage targets became easier to find in 1.0, and the advanced spots are where Coralum comes in bulk. To salvage:
- Ride a Water element Pal with a Fishing Rod equipped. Flying mounts with the Water element, such as Suzaku Aqua and Faleris Aqua, count too, and Whalaska itself can be ridden on water.
- Activate the spot and press Use while the spinning marker is inside the green band. A miss can be retried as often as you like on the same spot.
- Advanced spots (the barrels with golden bands) need a Powerful Fishing Magnet. The magnet is consumed only on a successful salvage; a failed attempt keeps it.
The Powerful Fishing Magnet
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Technology level | 62 |
| Recipe | 1 Hexolite, 1 Cryogenic Coolant, 1 Bio Battery |
| Magnets per craft | 10 (raised from 1 in 1.0) |
| Crafted at | Production Assembly Line II, Advanced Workshop, or the Ancient Workbench (added in 1.0) |
| Weight | 0.1 |
Because one craft now makes ten magnets, a single set of Hexolite, Coolant and Bio Battery is worth 60 to 110 Coralum Ore from advanced spots before any bonus. That is the best ore per crafting effort of any route on this page once you are past level 62.
Bring Jellroy
Jellroy's partner skill, Jellroy Drop, increases the items you get from salvaging while it is in your party: 55% at base, rising with each condensation rank to 95% when fully condensed. Jellroy spawns on Phantom Isle in groups of two or three and can be fished up around the early islands, so it is cheap to get. Its partner Jelliette does the same for fishing. Pocketpair's 1.0 changelog gives a "Fishing Build" example with Jelliette, Whalaska (the minigame starts with a higher capture gauge), Gloopie (the minigame is less likely to fail) and Solmora (talented Pals are easier to fish up).
Whalaska and Neptilius: the farm route
If you would rather not sail, turn Coralum into a base job. The Pal Disassembly Conveyor (100 Pal Metal Ingot, 15 Computer, 30 Nail, 30 Plasteel) permanently removes a Pal you place in it and gives you the same items you would get for defeating it in the wild. Breed Whalaska, hatch the eggs and feed the offspring to the conveyor: each one is 2 to 3 Coralum Ore plus Pal Fluids and Ice Organs.
Neptilius pays more per Pal: its normal drop is 10 Coralum Ore and 10 Hexolite, with a 30% chance at a Diamond. In the wild it only appears as an Alpha, so the practical approach is to catch one, breed it, and disassemble the offspring. Since the Hexolite it drops is also a magnet ingredient, a Neptilius line feeds the salvage route as well.
Later on: Pocketpair added the Ancient Material Synthesizer in 1.0 as a base building that produces various materials such as ore. It unlocks at level 78 and costs 50 Paloxite Ingot and 10 Ancient Civilization Cores. Players report using it for Coralum, but its full output list is not documented yet. If cores are what holds you back, see our Ancient Civilization Core farming guide.
From ore to Coralum Ingot
Coralum Ingot unlocks at technology level 62 and is smelted at the Gigantic Furnace, which needs electricity and a Pal with Kindling work suitability. In 1.0 the furnace itself moved to level 58.
| Recipe | Input | Output | Workload |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coralum Ingot | 2 Coralum Ore, 5 Coal | 1 Coralum Ingot (weight 3) | 5,000 |
Coal is the hidden cost: every ingot needs two and a half times as much Coal as Coralum Ore. Stockpile it before a big smelt; our Palworld coal locations guide lists the nodes.
How much Coralum you need
Ingot costs of the main recipes, and what that means in raw ore and Coal:
| Item | Coralum Ingot | Coralum Ore | Coal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charge Rifle | 200 | 400 | 1,000 |
| Overheat Rifle | 160 | 320 | 800 |
| Energy Shotgun | 155 | 310 | 775 |
| Megaboost Gun | 150 | 300 | 750 |
| Ancient Furnace | 100 | 200 | 500 |
| Rocket Launcher | 75 | 150 | 375 |
| Advanced Workshop | 50 | 100 | 250 |
| Advanced Weapon Assembly Line | 50 | 100 | 250 |
| Frostallion Noct Saddle | 43 | 86 | 215 |
| Hartalis Saddle, Neptilius Saddle | 40 each | 80 each | 200 each |
| Air Walker EX, Triple Air Dash Boots, Ultra Grappling Gun, Japanese-Style Hot Spring | 30 each | 60 each | 150 each |
| Air Walker Mk III | 20 | 40 | 100 |
| Large Fishing Pond | 10 | 20 | 50 |
| Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) | 5 | 10 | 25 |
Ammunition keeps drawing on it too: Charge Rifle Ammo and Energy Shotgun Ammo take 1 ingot per 5 rounds, Overheat Rifle Ammo 1 ingot per 10.
Worked example: a late game workshop and one energy weapon
Say you want the Advanced Workshop, the Advanced Weapon Assembly Line, a Large Fishing Pond and an Overheat Rifle. That is 50 + 50 + 10 + 160 = 270 Coralum Ingot, or 540 Coralum Ore and 1,350 Coal. Here is roughly how many repeats each route takes, using the middle of each drop range:
| Route | Average ore each time | Repeats for 540 ore |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced Salvage Spot, no Jellroy | 8.5 | about 64 spots (7 magnet crafts) |
| Advanced Salvage Spot, Jellroy at base rank (+55%) | about 13 | about 41 spots (5 magnet crafts) |
| Neptilius through the conveyor | 10 | 54 Pals |
| Alpha Whalaska | 7.5 | 72 kills |
| Bred Whalaska through the conveyor | 2.5 | 216 Pals |
| Basic Salvage Spot | about 0.45 (1 to 2 ore, 30% of the time) | over 1,000 spots, not worth it |
The lesson is clear: basic spots and plain Whalaska are fine for the first Large Fishing Pond, but anything with a weapon in it is a magnet and Jellroy job. Unlock the Powerful Fishing Magnet at level 62 before you start the big recipes.
On your own server
Two shipped world settings touch this loop. In DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini from the current dedicated server build (25247047) both default to 1:
EnemyDropItemRate=1.000000 FishingDifficultyRate=1.000000
- EnemyDropItemRate is, in Pocketpair's words, the dropped item quantity multiplier.
- FishingDifficultyRate sets fishing difficulty, with a documented range of 0.1 to 1.0.
Pocketpair's v1.0.4 update (September 7, 2026) also added a "Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames" option to World Settings. Every key and its range is in the official server configuration reference, and our Palworld server settings guide explains how to change them.

- Stockpile Coal at 2.5 times your ore before a large smelt.
Frequently asked questions
Where do you get Coralum Ore in Palworld?
From Whalaska, Whalaska Ignis and Neptilius drops, and from Salvage Spots at sea. Advanced Salvage Spots around Feybreak, Sakurajima and the Astral Mountains return 6 to 11 Coralum Ore each when salvaged with a Powerful Fishing Magnet.
Can you mine Coralum Ore?
Not from rock nodes. Coralum Ore comes from Pal drops and from salvaging flotsam at sea, and no merchant sells it.
What is the fastest way to farm Coralum?
Salvage advanced Salvage Spots with Powerful Fishing Magnets while Jellroy is in your party. One magnet craft makes 10 magnets, and Jellroy adds 55% to 95% more items per salvage.
How do you make a Coralum Ingot?
Smelt 2 Coralum Ore and 5 Coal at the Gigantic Furnace. The Coralum Ingot recipe unlocks at technology level 62, and the furnace needs electricity and a Kindling Pal.
Which Pal drops the most Coralum Ore?
Neptilius drops 10 Coralum Ore plus 10 Hexolite. Alpha Whalaska drops 5 to 10, and a normal Whalaska or Whalaska Ignis drops 2 to 3.
