Is Satisfactory Cross-Platform? Crossplay Status (2026)
Short answer: Satisfactory is PC-only — there is no console release. PC crossplay between Steam and the Epic Games Store works. Coffee Stain Studios has not announced a Satisfactory release for PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch as of 2026.
Steam ↔ Epic crossplay
Yes. A Steam player can host or join an Epic Games Store player and vice versa. The same dedicated-server build accepts clients from both storefronts.
Steam Deck
Native — Steam Deck runs the Linux build. Plays seamlessly with PC, Mac, and Epic players on the same servers.
Console
None. No PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch version. Coffee Stain has been asked repeatedly and has not committed to consoles. Treat any rumor as speculation.
Platform Compatibility Matrix
| Host | Steam (Win) | Steam (Linux/Deck) | Steam (Mac) | Epic Games Store | Console |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

How Steam ↔ Epic Crossplay Works
- The host (or dedicated server) advertises a public or password-protected session.
- The other player connects via the in-game session browser, dedicated-server connect dialog (IP + port), or a session ID code shared by the host.
- No special setup — Coffee Stain treats Steam and Epic as a single "PC" pool from a backend perspective.
This is one of the smoother crossplay models in the genre — there's no "sign in with another account" gate (unlike Palworld or Minecraft Bedrock).
Steam Deck Status
Satisfactory's Linux build works on Steam Deck via Steam. Verified gameplay performance varies by factory size — late-game megafactories with thousands of machines can stress the Deck's CPU. For multiplayer, the Deck plays normally with PC, Mac, and Epic clients.
Mod Compatibility Across Storefronts
Satisfactory mods (via the SMM mod manager) work across Steam and Epic — the modded-game protocol is the same. The constraint is that both client and server need the same modset to connect. SMM (Satisfactory Mod Manager) handles this on PC; dedicated servers run the same mods as host clients.
Dedicated Servers and Crossplay
The Satisfactory dedicated-server build is platform-agnostic on PC. Steam, Epic, Mac, and Linux clients all connect to the same server using the standard server connect flow (server address + port). See:
Cross-Save (Within PC)
Saves are stored locally and Coffee Stain has cloud-save integration via Steam Cloud and Epic's cloud. Cross-cloud sync between Steam and Epic is not automatic — moving a save from one storefront to the other is a manual file copy. The save format itself is identical across storefronts.
Will Satisfactory Come to Console?
As of 2026, no. Coffee Stain has been asked many times — at conferences, on streams, on the subreddit — and has consistently said consoles are not on the roadmap. The reasons mentioned in interviews:
- Memory constraints. Late-game Satisfactory factories can balloon in memory; certifying that for console hardware is non-trivial.
- Modding ecosystem. Mods are central to the long-tail player base, and console certification can't accept user-generated content the same way.
- Team focus. Coffee Stain is a small studio relative to AAA; they've prioritized PC content cadence over platform expansion.
If Coffee Stain announces consoles, that will be a major news beat — until then, treat consoles as not-coming for the foreseeable future.
Common Crossplay Issues
"Friend can't connect" between Steam and Epic
Most common cause: version mismatch (one player on the public branch, the other on Experimental). Confirm both are on the same branch in their game launcher's beta settings.
Mod desync
If you and your Epic friend are using mods, both must run identical SMM modsets. SMM has an "export modset" feature that makes this easier.
Dedicated server password locked
Both Steam and Epic clients use the same connect dialog. Make sure they're typing the right server address and admin/client password.
