Stationeers Dedicated-Server Performance and Lag
Stationeers is a simulation game. Large pipe networks, logic circuits, automation and active bases can cost more than the player count suggests, especially when everything is running unattended.
Use the workload, not just slots
| World stage | Starting RAM | Workload to monitor |
|---|---|---|
| First base | 8 GB | Initial atmospherics and small automation. |
| Established base | 16 GB | Full gas network, furnaces and unattended logic. |
| Large or modded world | 24 GB+ | Multiple systems and complex Workshop content. |
Reduce lag without destroying the station
- Measure CPU and memory during the lag event.
- Identify the base, pipe network or logic circuit that changed.
- Pause or isolate one system rather than deleting the world.
- Test with mods disabled on a copy, not on the only live station.
- Keep autosaves and external backups while tuning.
Player slots are only the upper bound. A small group can build a more expensive simulation than a larger group sharing a simple outpost.
