How to Host a WARDOGS Server
The honest pre-launch answer is a checklist, not a guessed SteamCMD command. WARDOGS has community-server support on the roadmap, but the operator package, ports and configuration surface need to be confirmed against the release build.
Prepare the parts that are already knowable
- Choose the intended region and community size.
- Plan for the 100-player ceiling without assuming every server will run full.
- Write rules, moderation roles and an escalation path.
- Reserve a host with fast CPU, reliable network and enough storage for updates.
- Keep a launch-day test window before advertising a public address.
Do not publish these until official tooling exists
| Unknown | Why guessing is harmful |
|---|---|
| Steam app ID | A wrong install command sends operators to the wrong package. |
| Port numbers | A fake port list produces “server not showing” tickets. |
| Config and admin commands | Unsupported keys can create false expectations. |
When BULKHEAD publishes the server package, this page should gain exact commands and paths. Until then, treat it as preparation guidance.
Track confirmed launch information in the status guide and reserve a managed WARDOGS server.
