WARDOGS System Requirements: Minimum and Recommended Specs
The short answer: WARDOGS wants a 16 GB machine with at least a GTX 1660 class card for 1080p on low, and an RTX 3070 class card with a recent 8-core CPU for 1440p on medium. It is a 50 GB install, Windows only, and it ships with kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat. A hundred players on a destructible battlefield is not a light game, and Bulkhead's own frame-rate targets in the table below say so.
Verified September 5, 2026 against the Steam listing, ahead of the September 10 Early Access launch.
Minimum vs recommended
| Profile | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5 8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 | Intel Core i7 12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU | Nvidia GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 590 | Nvidia RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT |
| Storage | 50 GB | 50 GB |
| Network | Broadband | Broadband |
| Bulkhead's own target | 1080p, low, 60 fps upscaled | 1440p, medium, 70 fps or more native, or 4K, medium, 60 fps or more upscaled |
Two things there matter more than the part numbers. The minimum target already assumes upscaling to hold 60 fps at 1080p low, so a GTX 1660 is a floor for playing, not for playing well. And the CPU requirement roughly doubles between the two profiles, from a 6-core Coffee Lake part to a 12th-generation i7 or a Ryzen 7. With a hundred players, vehicles and destruction being simulated at once, the CPU carries more of this game than it does in a typical 64-player shooter.
Linux, Steam Deck and Mac
- Windows only at launch. The Steam listing supports no other platform.
- Linux and SteamOS: Bulkhead said in August 2026 that they are working on Proton support so the game is playable there. That is a stated intention, not a shipped feature, and kernel-level anti-cheat is the piece that has to cooperate.
- Steam Deck: no verified rating yet. Treat it as unknown until the Proton work lands and Valve rates the game.
- Mac: not supported, nothing announced.
- Consoles: no PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version exists or has been announced. See release date, price and platforms.
Anti-cheat
The store page carries Valve's disclosure line: uses kernel level anti-cheat, Easy Anti-Cheat. It installs alongside the game and has to be running for online play. If the game refuses to launch or drops you back to the menu, the anti-cheat service is the first thing to check. A security tool that blocks kernel drivers will stop it, and so will a debugger or an overlay it does not trust. This is also the reason a Linux or Deck route is harder than a normal Proton port.
What else the listing tells you
- Proximity voice chat is in the Early Access build, so a working microphone and output device are worth checking before launch day.
- Languages: fourteen at launch, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese. English is the only one with full audio.
- Family Sharing is listed as supported.
- The store lists no controller support flag, though Bulkhead have discussed gamepad support in their pre-launch dev vlog. Assume mouse and keyboard until it is confirmed in the build.
Five checks before September 10
- Free space: 50 GB plus room for patches. Early Access updates on a game this size are large, so keep 20 GB spare on the same drive.
- RAM: 16 GB is the stated floor, not a comfortable middle. A 16 GB machine running a browser and Discord is already close to it.
- GPU driver: update before launch day. A launch build assumes a current driver, and the first day is a bad time to find out yours is a year old.
- Upscaling: the minimum target depends on it. Near the floor, plan to run DLSS, FSR or the in-game upscaler rather than native resolution.
- Pre-load: take it if Steam offers one. A 50 GB download on launch day competes with everyone else's.
Community servers: a note for hosts
These figures describe the client. Bulkhead has not published a dedicated-server package or its hardware requirements, so nothing on this page tells you what a 100-player community server needs. Anyone planning to host should wait for the operator documentation rather than reading 16 GB off a client spec. The dedicated-server status page tracks what is confirmed, and the 100-player planning guide covers how to test once the files exist.
