WARDOGS Release Date, Price, Supporter Pack and Platforms
The short answer: WARDOGS launches into Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 at $39.99, on Windows PC only. The one paid extra is the Supporter Pack at $49.99, which is cosmetics. There is no console, Mac or Linux version, so there is no crossplay. Bulkhead expect Early Access to run one to two years and say the price will be higher at full release, so the launch price is the low one.

What you are buying on September 10
An Early Access build of a 100-player, three-team shooter. Three teams fight over a randomised two kilometre by two kilometre control zone inside a larger map, and the first team to a hundred points wins. Every player starts with $10,000 of in-game cash and buys a loadout each life, from weapons and gear up to vehicles. Teamplay pays: reviving, transporting friendlies and holding the objective all earn cash, and the balance carries between matches, so a well-timed expensive purchase can swing a round.
Bulkhead have been unusually blunt about the state of it. Their pre-launch dev vlog is called "10 Reasons NOT to Buy WARDOGS", they asked people to watch it before pre-ordering, and in the same post they wrote that players should refund if the game does not live up to expectations. The Steam page says the core is playable but still evolving, with ongoing balance changes and polish to come.
Price now versus price later
The $39.99 is deliberately the low number. In the Early Access questions on the store page Bulkhead say the game is priced lower during Early Access and that they may raise the price closer to full release, to reflect a broader and more polished game. They also expect the Early Access period to run one to two years, and say they are adamant about not staying in it longer. Planned additions include more maps, weapons and vehicles, new vehicle types such as fighter jets, more objective variations, deeper progression and a seasonal meta game.
The Supporter Pack, and what Bulkhead promise not to sell
The only edition-style purchase, at $49.99. It contains three starter weapon camos, a Littlebird helicopter camo, a supporter icon on the scoreboard that can be hidden in settings, and grenade and helmet bobbleheads. Alongside it Bulkhead published three commitments: no monetisation during Early Access apart from this pack, in-game cash and gold bars will never be sold, and camos will never be directly purchasable because they should show that a player earned them.
PS5, Xbox, Mac: none of them
Windows only. No PlayStation, Xbox or Switch version exists or has been announced, and there is no Mac build. That also settles the crossplay question: with one platform there is nothing to cross. The one platform story that is moving is Linux, where Bulkhead said in August 2026 that they are working on Proton support so the game runs on Linux and SteamOS. The kernel-level anti-cheat is the part that has to cooperate, and there is no Steam Deck rating yet. Full detail on the system requirements page.
Beta access and how the waves work
Pre-ordering on Steam guarantees closed beta access, granted through the separate WARDOGS Playtest app. The first closed beta ran August 21 to 23; Bulkhead wrote that pre-orders had "blown past expectations" and deliberately went slow on inviting the sign-up pool until later that weekend so they could watch server scaling. Closed Beta 2 ran from the FPS Games Show through September 6, again in waves rather than as an open beta, because the things they wanted to break only break at scale: server scaling and browsing, Twitch Drops, DLC entitlements, voice chat and the login queue. It peaked at 162,488 concurrent players on September 3. If you pre-ordered and had no invite, that was the wave system working, not a fault on your account.
What the FPS Games Show announcement was
Bulkhead promised a huge announcement at the FPS Games Show on September 3 that "no one will see coming". It was a $100,000 clip contest: one clip wins that much in real cash, 99 runners-up get the same figure in in-game cash, and submissions close at 23:59 BST on October 8. The reaction was not what they hoped, and the official WARDOGS account posted a video the next day saying they had overhyped it and, in their words, "dropped the ball on this one". Nothing about the release date or the price changed. See the $100K clip contest page for the categories and how to enter.
Worth knowing as context: the FPS Games Show is Bulkhead's own event. Their chief executive has said the big industry showcases quote tens to hundreds of thousands for a minute of stage time, which they judged not worth it for a game like this, so they built a free FPS-only showcase instead.
Launch-day expectations
Two things the betas already showed. There is a login queue, and it is on Bulkhead's own list of systems being stress-tested. And servers come online in waves as demand is measured, which is why a thin server browser in the first hours usually means capacity rather than a broken install. Bulkhead have said publicly that around 10,000 concurrent players would represent success and stability for them; the beta peak was sixteen times that, so plan for a busy launch. The server status page explains how to read those signals.
