Wurm Unlimited World Backup and Restore
Wurm’s world database contains the history your players care about: terrain, deeds, items, skills and settlements. A backup made while Java is writing may not represent a restorable world.
Backup contents
| Item | Keep it because |
|---|---|
| Complete game database/world folder | Terrain, players, creatures, deeds and items. |
wurm.ini and launcher settings | Rates, ports, PvP and selected database. |
mods/ | Server behavior and mod configuration. |
| Logs | Evidence of the last clean save and shutdown. |
Restore safely
- Stop the server through its shutdown control.
- Keep the destination directory as a rollback copy.
- Restore the complete source folder and matching settings.
- Start privately and verify terrain, a GM account and one player record.
- Keep the old copy until the community confirms the world is correct.
Do not restore only the map image or only the database file. Wurm’s visible world is the result of several related files and the server settings that select them.
See the custom-map guide and managed Wurm Unlimited hosting.
