Wurm Unlimited Server Update and Version Mismatch

Wurm worlds are too valuable for an update to be a file overwrite. Save the database, stop Java cleanly, update the dedicated-server files, and test the same world before inviting players.

Safe update order

  1. Announce maintenance and stop the selected database normally.
  2. Back up the complete world, configuration and mods.
  3. Run SteamCMD app 402370 with the intended branch.
  4. Start the same database and check the log for database or mod errors.
  5. Join with a GM and one ordinary player.

What a mismatch looks like

SymptomLikely cause
Client cannot log inClient and server builds differ.
World starts but mod features failMod loader or Java compatibility.
Wrong world appearsLauncher selected a different database.
Keep the previous world copy until a real player confirms the update. A Java process starting successfully does not prove that the database remained intact.
